Welcome to the Fort Collins Board of REALTORS®

As a new member, it is  important that you learn about the key resources and benefits available to you through your association membership.

The New Member Orientation is a self-paced, 20-step program.  At the end of the program, there is a link to a quiz that covers the information contained in the orientation. Upon completion of the quiz, we will notify you via email to schedule a time to take the REALTOR Oath and officially be counted as a REALTOR. In addition to completing the New Member Orientation, you must complete the New Member Code of Ethics/ Fair Housing within 30 days of membership activation. Information about the New Member Ethics and Fair Housing trainings are also provided in the orientation. We encourage you to reach out to us if you have any questions as you complete this program.

3-Way Agreement

The principals of your brokerage have decided to hold membership in the REALTOR® Association. Therefore, you are also required to have a REALTOR® membership. You have your choice of any Colorado local association as your primary membership.  We are excited that you chose the Fort Collins Board of REALTORS® and look forward to serving you and supporting you in your real estate career!

The term “Three-way Agreement” refers to the structure of the REALTOR® organization. This agreement was established among the National Association, the state associations, and local boards and associations.  Your state association is the Colorado Association of REALTORS®.

  • History of the National Association of REALTORS®
Important values of membership:

CODE OF ETHICS

As a REALTOR®, you are held to a code of ethics that supports you and guides you in working with the public and each other.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS PROCESS

NAR’s professional standards policies include a defined process of checks and balances to protect members and evaluate potential Code violations.

ADVOCACY

Your profession works hard to advocate for federal, state and local policy initiatives that strengthen the ability of Americans to own, buy and sell real property. RPAC promotes the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates. NAR asks you to invest annually in RPAC a minimum of $25.

REALTOR® BRAND

The adoption of the REALTOR® brand in 1916 and its associated trademark has helped set REALTORS® apart from other real estate practitioners. REALTOR® = member and only members can use the trademark.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

NAR supports Diversity and Inclusion, as well as a continued commitment to Fair Housing as part of its core values. Seeking knowledge and meaningful conversation through a variety of perspectives and resources builds the ability to learn from the past and provides solutions for a better future.

Take the Fairhaven Challenge*

In November 2020, NAR launched Fairhaven, a fair housing simulation training for REALTORS® that uses the power of storytelling to help members identify, prevent, and address discriminatory practices in real estate. Inspired by real stories, this innovative online experience has agents work against the clock to sell homes in the fictional town of Fairhaven, while confronting discrimination in the homebuying process. Learners will also walk in the shoes of a homebuyer facing discrimination. The training provides customized feedback that learners can apply to daily business interactions.
