Cupboard Cleanout Initiative Fills Community Kindness Cupboard!
The Fort Collins Board of REALTORS’® Community Outreach Committee, in collaboration with FoCo Café, organized a member-wide “Cupboard Cleanout” food drive to help those in need in our community. The committee secured multiple collection points at member offices throughout Fort Collins and Loveland and promoted the initiative via email and social media to FCBR members. Non-perishable food items were donated over a two-week period and required three carloads to transport to FoCo Café’s Kindness Cupboard*.
The café staff were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and the vast number of items collected – so many they wouldn’t all fit in the cupboard! Once again, the Community Outreach Committee did a fantastic job and continue to make a difference in our community.
The cupboard is aimed at providing accessible non-perishable food to anyone who may need it at any point any day of the year at any time of the day. The Kindness Cupboard is a way for community members to support one another, as well as cut down on potential food waste. Like many of the resources at the FoCo Café, the goal of the Kindness Cupboard is largely to ensure that anyone has access to food when they need it, but also to continue to encourage a sense of community through people helping and supporting one another.
